Amy Prescott (she/xe)

Amy Prescott (she/xe) is a Resident Physiotherapist who earned a Master of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2024. Prior to this, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biology from Acadia University in 2018. During her undergraduate studies, Amy was a University Level 4.2 cheerleader with Acadia Cheerleading and served as the student president of the Women in Science and Engineering committee. While her undergraduate research focused on parasitology, xe was drawn to a career in healthcare for the opportunity to engage in direct patient care. Amy’s interest in pelvic floor physiotherapy was sparked during her time at the Halifax Sexual Health Centre, where she recognized a pressing need for expanded pelvic health practices.

Amy’s approach to physiotherapy emphasizes comprehensive assessments that consider the many determinants of health influencing a client’s condition. Her treatment techniques include manual therapy, pain science education, soft tissue work, cupping, taping, and exercise therapy, all delivered through a trauma-informed lens. She is dedicated to providing accurate diagnoses and individualized care for all clients she treats.

As a genderqueer physiotherapist, Amy has been an advocate for expanding gender-affirming services within healthcare, drawing on her experience with the Halifax Sexual Health Centre and broader community efforts. As a member of the Queer Physiotherapy Collective (QPC), xe is committed to fostering inclusive care environments and hopes to enhance access to pelvic floor care for all individuals.

Outside of her physiotherapy practice, Amy enjoys Pilates, running, and exploring amateur astronomy.
